Rehabilitation and Performance Enhancement

What to expect...

Unless the treatment referral comes directly from your vet, please ensure that you have gained veterinary permission prior to the treatment. Before the
treatment commences you will be asked to sign a form to confirm this.

Please ensure that your horse is in from the field on time for the treatment and that any mud has been brushed off. Before the assessment, a full history of the horse will be taken. It may be useful to have made a note of any relevant medial history, including dates, prior to the treatment. The horse will be observed in walk and trot on a flat surface. On some occasions it may be required that your horse is lunged/ ridden. A full musculoskeletal assessment of your horse will be achieved using palpation, observing any muscular tension, pain, spasm, adhesions, joint range of movement, muscular
asymmetries and abnormalities.

Treatment will be tailored to the individual horse's needs, but will usually consist of manual treatment and electrotherapy. As appropriate, an exercise prescription will be specifically designed for your horse's needs. Treatment sessions are likely to take between 45 minutes and 1 1/2 hours.

A follow up treatment may be necessary. On average it takes between 1-3 sessions (usually 1 week apart) in order to resolve the initial issue; with some
horses needing up to 6 treatments. If the horse is considered to require veterinary attention then the case will promptly be referred back the vet. Quarterly or bi annual (sometimes more frequently) check-ups are always recommended. Detecting weaknesses or potential problems before they manifest will ensure your horse is working pain free and to his potential, as well as saving money and effort in the long run.

Costs: £45 per treatment session
